I am against animal cruelty, but I am also against being called monster for being a meat-eater.

The reason why I stated like so, is because certain community has been growing very subtly and yet has been very influential in this era. This community does what they call protecting animal right, and thus refuse to live to harm animal. According to medicalnewstoday.com in an article that was written in 2014, vegan do not consume or use dairy products or eggs even though doing so would not kill the animal. Part of the reason is a belief in the absolute right of animals to exist freely without human interference. While choosing a certain lifestyle is freedom of speech, I believe the growing population of this community gives more bad impact than good.
From one point of view, veganism might be seen as a heroic action that speaks against animal cruelty, but today, I’d like to stand up here and state that veganism is not equal to treating animal right.

Readers, what does it mean, exactly, to treat animal right?

You may say treating animal right is to say no to wearing real fur. It is also perhaps the action of taking pet from shelters instead of buying new breed. But if you say that treating animal right equals to not eating the meat that God has granted us, then I believe we all have to get to the same page.

So how do we treat animal fairly? I believe that the right way to deal with them is by allowing ourselves to respect these animals’ purposes. You might think it’s horrible slaughtering animals to consume their meat, but can we imagine the incident that might occur if we let the herbivores live? Have you thought about how it may lead to overpopulation and cause changes in the animal food chain, which may lead to the death of many animals?

If your argument says it’s cruelty to not consider dairy animal’s feelings and hearts, then with all due respect, let me tell you this. We cannot put the herbivores in human’s shoes. Not only are we more superior, animals also do not feel and think the way us humans do. It’s not a right thing to expect them to cry for one another like we do. It is their sole purpose to live, and it is the way they have lived in the past ages.

Readers. We are smart. We are forward thinkers, which is why I have to ask you. The arguments that I have stated earlier, does it matter? Does it really matter that we eat the herbivores? Does it matter that we slaughter the animals for food? Is this little war between vegans and meat eaters really, truly what’s important when it comes to protecting animals?

Readers, the real problem with vegan is not what they eat. The real problem that comes with veganism is the distraction. With veganism campaigning for their rights, we are distracted from the truest form of protecting animal. We forget the endangered ones that needed our help more.

The case that we humans have to focus on is the well-being of the endangered ones, and that simple fact is forgotten because of our idiocy in defending our own egos. The Sumatran tigers, the orangutans, the Komodos. These are the animals that we have to protect, especially here in Indonesia (the country I live in). Humans have utilized their body parts for their own need without so much as a consideration in their population and habitat. This is what has to stop.

Us humans cannot fight with one another and call other as monsters when the real problem ahead of us is not who eats what. We humans have to stand up, get to the same page, and understand. It’s pointless defending the animals that are meant to be eaten, but it is also pointless defending your choice of living. Our enemy is not the meat-eaters or the vegans. Our enemy is those humans who treated animal wrong for satisfaction, museum objects, or auction prizes.

We are entitled to our own opinion, Readers. But in order to really protect these animals, we have to stop criticizing one another. Vegans have their own way to live, and meat-eaters have their own reasons to live the way they do. This is not the problem anymore. Let’s stop for a second from the fights and the insults and see. Tigers are being preserved, orangutans are being shot down, and the komodos are being skinned alive ahead of us. Open your eyes, because beyond our shouting, we are ignoring the laughter of the real monsters out there. So let’s shake hands and see. Let’s drop all the baggage, and get to the same page.

Real enemy is upon us and I personally believe that we can truly save the endangered community if we step forward together, as one.
